Catching up with my blog… On Wednesday, I went to the last regular night at the GUU…

I really wasn’t in a fit state to go – I was even more shattered on Wednesday than I was on Tuesday, and Sunday. Plus I had a touch of a cold, and I had to be up early the next morning.

That wouldn’t have been such a problem if the night hadn’t been extended until 11.30pm. But because of the late running, and the fact it was the last night, I decided to go along late-ish after the classes at about half 9…

I’m glad I went. I had a fab time. Props to CJ for playing a stormer of a set – my only complaint was the music was too good and I was missing so many great songs when I needed to take a rest and cool down… (Found myself getting much more hot and sweaty that normal – not sure why… (Maybe it’s because I need a haircut… Hmm…))

It was a busy night, though I expected it busier, to mark the occasion… Still enough people to get some quality dances, though, a bit like in Dundee on Sunday, I often allowed myself to be asked rather than actively asking. One thing I liked about the GUU was that I got asked to dance there much more than at JJ’s. Not sure why that was…

Last week I thought I’d have something insightful to say about the GUU situation by now, and that I’d have something profound to say about the end of this event. Well I don’t.

I have a number of ideas on how to replace it – different venues, different content, different marketing, but I don’t have the answer.

Thanks to everyone who was there for making it a great night – allowing the place to finish on a high. Some of the folks there went for food/drinks afterwards. I had to excuse myself and head home. Sorry I missed that.

Anyway, hope we can get a new Wednesday night soon – I’ll miss the GUU.
