Edinburgh

Went to the Edinburgh party last night in the company of two lovely lady dancers.

Not a bad night, a bit too hot, but otherwise all right.

Arrived about quarter past nine – didn’t seen so busy as normal, and in fact it never got as busy as I’m used to seeing it, though I guess this is to be expected mid-summer.

Had lots of good dances with both lots of the local Edinburgh ladies, plus the few from Glasgow and Dundee. Also danced with a beginner from Inverness who I thought was rather fab for having only danced for 5 weeks.

Least fun was dancing with one or two women who never seemed to look at me at all while we were dancing, oh, and also one woman who seemed to have taken the eye-contact thing a bit far, and was a bit scary. :what:

Big problem was the heat – surprising considering the place is air-conditioned and the lower than average turn-out. We went for a break down to the bar for a bit, but it was even hotter, though it did mean that back in the dance studio it felt cooler for a while.

The other thing I found after our break was the music (in my opinion) wasn’t as good as it was before (and I rather enjoyed most of the music earlier on.) But it wasn’t all bad and I’ve had much worse nights.

Wasn’t entirely happy with the quality of my dancing all the time – I find though that a really good dance with a really good partner lifts me, and allows me to experiment, reminding me of cool moves I’ve forgotten, or fun new things to try, which then inspire me for future dances. Wish I could find a way to get to this place from the start of the night though.

Besides dancing, it’s always nice to meet up with friends from around Scotland, some of whom I hadn’t seen since, oh, maybe 6 days! (Oh, and some others for a bit longer than that. ;) )

Afterwards, some chips to prepare us for the journey home and thus ended another good night’s dancing.

Thanks to everyone, especially to the lovely lady who gave us a lift over to Edinburgh.

Cheers!
