Kiss me quick!

Last night was the Glasgow party. It was a really good night. A bit of a return to form for this venue for me.

As well as being there to dance and see my friends, I was a man on a mission…

On the forum I had somehow got myself nominated in the “Truth or Dare” thread – which has recently been extended to being “Truth, Dare or Kiss”. Because doing a “truth” is just a bit dull, and fearing what the dare might be (ok, the planned dare was fairly straight-forward, and involved this blog) I choose to go for it and do the “kiss”. My task was to kiss anyone (everyone) whose forum name matched a particular pattern.

Thankfully it was a fairly limited set of people – and mostly female. Also thankfully, the task as specified didn’t specify how I had to kiss folks, so I was able to get away with kissing the guys and the more reluctant girls on the cheek.

In the end, I kissed 5 girls, and 2 guys. Not so tough. Don’t think I made anyone’s night, and I can’t say the earth moved for me either. But that’s me done my “kiss” dare. Now I’ve got to nominate someone else… That’s the easy bit. Then I’ve got to think up a truth, dare or kiss for them. That’s the hard bit.

After that I am never going near the ToD thread again.

Anyway… apart from that, how was the night?

It was good!

I arrived relatively late – about half 9… the party was in full flow by that time. Until about half 10 is was just the main room (the Dining Room) down-stairs. I so much prefer that room to the Debates Chamber which is the normal main room for the parties these days. Music was supplied by our Australian visitor for the summer – pretty good music I thought, though maybe a little more experimentation would be good – it all seemed to be well-established tracks. At least for the time I was in the room… Maybe there was more adventurous stuff played later when I was up in the latin & blues room or I’m just forgetting things. (A distinct possibility.)

Because the two rooms weren’t on the same level it wasn’t as easy to switch between rooms as much as at previous parties, but the music upstairs was so good I didn’t feel like I was missing anything downstairs…

Along with the increased numbers at the party, I think there were more folks in the blues room, and actually dancing. And proportionally more of them were Glasgow folks, though pretty much all of the Edinburgh folks were there from when it opened until 1am when the party finished.

Overall I think there was a better vibe than in recent months.

Of the people there, there were a few folks I missed, but there were also one or two surprises… Including a lady from down south who was up to visit and do her first dance since being at the BFG, the day after which she had an operation on her knee. It was good to see her, and get a couple of dances. Hope your knee is OK this morning and you didn’t over-do it!

I had a lot of very enjoyable dances. Some really great dances. There’s a couple of dancers from Edinburgh that are just so much fun to dance with – I wish I had the opportunity to dance with them more often. (Wish I had the opportunity to dance with a fair number of the Edinburgh ladies more.) Also had a couple of fun dances with the two lady DJs… And there were plenty of my usual suspects from around Glasgow whom I always have great dances with.

The floors… The main room was a bit better than it was on Wednesday, but it still needs a really good clean. The blues room was much better than last time. It had been all sticky patches last time, but I didn’t notice any problems yesterday.

My dancing… I got the night started with dances with a few of my favourites, and that set me for a good night’s dancing. Thinking back, I don’t think I was being very adventurous with my dancing last night, and if I had been thinking about it, I might have been unhappy about that, but I had other things on my mind. I also think I was dancing quite well. Had a couple of rather fab dances where with the help of my partner we were connecting with the music in a way that just makes you smile so much. And that’s what it’s all about.

Can’t think of anything else I need to talk about…

I had a really good night, hope you did too, and if you were at all involved in it, thank you. :)

“I had other things on my mind.”

A most mysterious comment - and you don’t even give any clues as to her identity !
