Wee trip to Edinburgh
Last night was the Edinburgh Ceroc party at Marco’s.
I was lucky enough to be able to go though from Glasgow in the company of two lady dancer friends of mine.
I can’t say I was entirely up for a party though… I’ve had a cold all week, plus I got an eye infection on Thursday, so I was feeling a bit drained, and I know from experience that I don’t have as good a dance experience when I’m wearing glasses.
We went through for about 9-ish, again missing the class – I’d really like to get to Edinburgh one night early! The place was a bit quiet when we arrived, but it soon got busy.
For the reasons already given, plus the fact that the music wasn’t especially inspiring for me, I didn’t dance as much as I would normally, but that’s not to say I didn’t have quite a few rather good dances.
The best thing about the night though was the company – both the friends I came over with, plus the folks I knew there. Was especially pleased to see one girl in particular, and it was good to get some time and dances with her.
I was disappointed that some of the folks I’d expected or hoped to see weren’t there. But what can you do?
I’ve really got to say that the one thing I dislike most about these parties is the seating arrangements. OK, there are tables along one wall, but they always get snapped up early, leaving just the seats round the edge… There is also a tendency for folks to congregate at the side nearest the main entrance, meaning there’s not always enough seats for everyone there…
There’s less space to stash dance-bags, clothes and such… People sometimes end up sharing the same chair which can make that worse. Also makes it harder to get to your stuff with folks in the way…
But the combination of no tables and people with drinks is the biggest problem. Finding a safe place to put your drink down and still be able to get it later is quite difficult, which means often drinks are left in not-so-safe places. Inevitably things get spilt onto the dance-floor, or onto the stuff stashed under the chairs.
Last night around where I was sitting I noticed four spills, one of which left my dance bag and shoes sitting in a puddle of Diet Coke. Not good.
Despite the down-sides I still had quite a good night. My more wiggly style seems to have gone down well on those that I tried it with. A lady dancer asked me where the new sexy me had come from, and who was responsible so she could thank them. OK, for her sexy dancing isn’t at all new – she’s very good at it herself – but I still would like to pass my thanks on to all responsible… As soon as I’ve figured out who that is…
Just one other thing I’m wondering about… Anyone know whether the venue has had new ceiling fans fitted? As I don’t remember there being so many. One thing’s for sure – the place certainly didn’t feel as hot as it normally does – in fact, in some bits it even felt too cold. (Or maybe it was just the air-conditioning had been turned up (down?))
Think that’s all I can remember wanting to talk about… so all that remains is to thank everyone for a good night, thanks for the dances, the lift, the company, everything. Hope to see you all again soon.
