Busy Weekend - Dundee Party

I’ve had a busy weekend… Next was a party later that night…

(Previously I had been at a workshop in Dundee with Nigel & Nina, on Blues dancing… )

The party was due to start around 8-ish, but I had to check in to my hotel, freshen-up and get something to eat first. I was glad of an offer of a lift to and from my hotel from the venue we were using, and company over a meal. Big thanks to you – really enjoyed your company.

So we got to the dance for about 9pm, despite getting majorly lost within Dundee. Not long after we arrived Nina took a small class in competition technique, but I didn’t go to it, preferring to just dance while I could.

After a long day I was beginning to get really tired. This affected my dancing quite a bit. I had quite a few good dances, but especially towards midnight and after I could hardly stand up, never mind think straight in order to dance.

I didn’t use much of the blues stuff that we had been taught. I prefer to learn this stuff by a slow sinking-in process – almost by osmosis. A lot of the music did suit a bluesy style though… Oh well…

What was good about the night was dancing with all my friends from the Dundee area… There are so many great dancers in Dundee, I was really spoilt…

That said, my dance with probably the best dancer in the room – Nina – was pretty poor. I just wasn’t connecting with the music, and felt intimidated. Bad combination. Maybe if they are in Southport, I’ll see it I can improve on it.

I left before the night ended, tired, needing to get some sleep….

Overall, not a bad night, though on balance, I think I would have enjoyed the Glasgow party that I had missed that night more. The music would have been more my thing, and I would have known a lot more of the dancers.

On Sunday I then had the final part of the “Feeling Good” workshop
