First Edinburgh party of 2006

Just back from Edinburgh. Goes without saying, but I had a really great time.

There’s two factors… But as before it’s the people… First are the beautiful dancers of the capital city. They really make the night. But another factor is simply that it’s a change of scenery – different faces, music, and vibe.

I had many great dances, though there’s one dancer in particular that every time I dance with her, it’s always special. She’s such a fab dancer, and she makes me feel like I’m the best dancer in the room. I wonder if she has the same effect on everyone she dances with.

I arrived relatively late, at about 10pm, and I’ve got to say the music for the next hour or so at least wasn’t very inspiring to me. Only started getting good around midnight. (Again – in my opinion.) A wee while back I came to the conclusion that the best way to pass the time when music you don’t like is playing, is to dance to it. At least that way you don’t have to listen to it in the same way. But when you can’t dance to it either (because you find it too awful or too difficult to dance to), what are you meant to do?

But as the night went on, the music got better, and I even got a chance to dance to “This is my DJ”, which I may have danced to before, but not for months and months and months. It’s a song I really like, but I don’t think I did it justice, despite have a fab partner to dance to it with. I enjoyed it, but let’s just call that one a practice shot… Hopefully it’ll be better next time…

A much, much worse dance was the one where I got to follow a male’s lead. I’m a disaster at following. So glad I also got a chance to lead during that dance (his following is pretty good for an amateur… ) We also tried a bit of double trouble with a friendly female later, but that was truly dreadful much of the time. It was all good fun though…

Another good dance was to “What You Waiting For?” (Gwen Stefani). Very cheeky… I enjoyed it.

Only one real complaint for the night: ladies: please don’t wear heavily sequinned tops. I’ve got scratches all down my right arm from doing baskets and the like against what feels like sandpaper. Not nice!

But thanks to everyone who helped make the night for me. Thanks to the lady who gave me a lift over tonight and shared her chips with me. And thanks to the girl who thought I was only 22. Looking forward to see you all again soon.

Hope you all had as good a time as me, and that I maybe helped. :)

See you next time!
