Edinburgh Xmas Party!

Not long back from the Edinburgh Christmas party… I had a great time. Not much else to say.

Yeah, right!

First things first… I arrived just in time to miss my favourite song of the moment – This is my DJ, by Hard In Tango. It’s just an awesome song. I can’t remember the last time I danced to it, probably it was in Edinburgh, but I haven’t been for ages. Note to any DJs who happen to be reading, who are playing the Henry Wood Hall next Thursday: please play this song for me – but not too early! (F) And if you can time it so that I have one of my favourite partners lined up it’s be even better. :)

(Oh, you should also check out Voodoo Child by Rogue Traders too. Banging tune!)

Other music was quite good. Usual sort of mix I’m used to in Edinburgh. Loved some, felt OK to others, not keen on a few, but I could dance to most of it, though am still appalled to find myself dancing to Shakin’ Stevens again! 8-O

The venue is Macro’s and there’s not much more to say… Though I thought they did well with the Christmas decor. Certainly helped give some atmosphere to the place that’s normally lacking, plus had the added bonus of covering over some of the mirrors that can ruin your enjoyment of a dance when you suddenly catch sight of yourself in them… :-?

My dancing… I was trying hard not to think about it too hard, but I did make a few observations. I’ve been trying to improve the continuity of my lead recently and I found that when I was dancing with a beginner, by being more continuous, it reduced her tendency to yank on the step back, and so I tried harder to keep my lead continuous. This can only have been good practice which perhaps meant I was leading better with other dancers too.

Don’t know, but feedback is welcome. By PM/email if you don’t want to leave a public comment here. Thanks!

And so we come to the big thing – the people…

I think I’m in love. (L)

With Edinburgh. (H)

There’s just so many lovely ladies there, I always enjoy my visits to Edinburgh. :)

As far as dancing is concerned, they are all at their own level of skill and experience. But I don’t think I had a dance all night that I didn’t completely and utterly enjoy. Beautiful women who can also give you an enjoyable dance. Who could ask for more?

I’m so glad I managed to get a couple of dances with some of the ladies I’d missed in Stirling last week (either because they were absent, or my mind was!)

Still managed to miss some of the folks that I owe dances to though. Sorry.

That’s my dancing over until after Christmas, so it was also good to see so many friends and give them Christmas hugs and best wishes. Maybe next year I’ll even get cards sorted out!

Thanks to everyone – to the Edinburgh crew for a great party, and to all the dancers who made it a great night. (F)

Big thanks to the lady who gave me a lift! :-D I owe you a Christmas hug!

Special thanks to the girl with the sexy hair cut – loved dancing with you, and I hope to see you in Glasgow soon. (K)

Oh, and I’m sorry to have missed some folks who weren’t able to make it…

Dancing next week on Tuesday at Jumpin’ Jacks, then the HWH party on Thursday. Maybe see some of you at one or both venues.

Only one thing left to say…

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
